It’s almost time to plant these lovelies. Hopefully by the time they’re blooming, the world will feel a bit more normal. Regardless, a field of flowers will put a smile on my face.
Hope you’re all surviving the quarantine and wis

Tuber dividing is in full swing, and all I can say is, it definitely gives me pause to wonder if I really want to grow so many of these lovelies. But, who am I kidding? Of course I do!
#dahlia in the forefront is Rip City.

I have been adding roses to the mix for a few years now, and while the collection is starting to be decent, I have to dig them all up and move them to the new farm. However, I’m planning on waiting to move them til after their first flush.

Just in case you were wondering, Linda’s Baby is a wonderfully versatile dahlia, and a phenomenal producer. A must grow, in my opinion. 🌸😊🌸

The past eight months have been a bit of a blur, and I must say, since my husbands accident in September, flowers and farming have shifted to the back of my mind—you might have noticed πŸ˜‰; but it’s time to bring them back front and center
I think the “best” burgundy dahlia is somewhat subjective and illusive. They are too red or too plum or even too chocolate. This armload is a mixture of all three. I think, when you blend them together, they all work, but then again, I
I have been M.I.A. for awhile. Life has been a lot to manage these past several months, but I’m seeing the light at the end of the tunnel...kind of.
We’re still doing daily wound care for my husband, but most of his burns are closed up,
Heading to Nashville today for the #ascfgconference
I was suppose to be going with my husband this time, but because of his accident, I’m flying solo again, it will still be fun. Lots of good stuff to learn.
P.S.—hubby is doing well.🌸🌸
Dahlia digging begins today! We need to get them out of the ground and tucked away for winter.🌸🍁🌸🍁🌸🍁🌸

Peaches-n-cream, last week, being a little funky with her colors because of the cold. It’s always interesting to me to watch the dahlias transform, as the season winds down.🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸

Photo was taken a couple of weeks ago. This bundle is several different varieties of Lisi. We cut every possible stem that we could, and cobbled together some complimentary bundles to fill an order. The stems were aged and antiques and faded, but
It’s time to decide which dahlias to keep, which varieties to toss and which varieties I want to add to the mix. The dahlia pictured is Lakeview Premier. She’s another one that I think is just beautiful, but there’s not much deman
The season has come to an end, and as other farmers have expressed, it’s bittersweet; but trying to manage dahlia season and my husband’s accident has been exhausting—he is doing much better. I will miss the beauty of fresh cut flo
Camano Zoe is not a very good tuber producer, but she is one of my favorites—the perfect, little, lovely pop of “blush.”

Sold out for the season, but Arena Apricot #lisianthus are a showstopper and work in either the peach/apricot or blush palette. One of my favorite varieties. 🌸🌸🌸🌸

Cafe au Lait Royal isn’t as popular with the designer florists. Too pink, too much variegation, not “blush” enough, but that won’t stop me from growing this lovely thing!

The season is coming to an end. It seems there is frost damage most nights. The dahlias start blooming a little wacky. Lots of them blow their center’s, and the Cafes do that curly center petals thing—which is kinda pretty.

I’m hopeful that the cold front/storm that is rolling through here over the next few days won’t damage the dahlias too much. I don’t think it will freeze, but the 30s tend to damage the dahlias.
There are lots ordered for the next
